Contribution To Your Pilates Experience – Pilates Yoga Mats And Others

If you’re planning to engage in an exercise program with a holistic approach, then you’ve got great things coming with Pilates. This is a highly strategic physical exercise which translates to total conditioning of the body. And it doesn’t even matter what age you are. You can always begin a Pilates program as long as you’re healthy enough to do the rounds.

Of course, it can’t be denied that the quality of results you get out of this regimen will be affected by the equipment you use. When it comes to choosing a Pilates yoga mat, you have to get one that is sturdy enough to take in your weight and keep you steady on the ground. Remember that there are nearly a hundred routines that need you to be on this mat. Therefore, it is necessary that you choose the best. If you’re not sure what particular type of mat to use and where to get it , you can run a search online and find results in a matter of seconds.

While mats affect our performance during exercise, it’s naturally the routines that make all the difference. Pilates does appear simple at first but it’s actually quite sophisticated in the sense that a high level of precision is needed when targeting the muscle groups. Even if you’ve had considerable physical training, you may still end up doing the wrong moves. But with a Pilates instructor around, you’ll always learn it the right way.

As you go along with the program, you will naturally develop a deeper sense of knowing if you’re actually doing the steps right. You can even start modifying your techniques and maybe even develop your own moves. But basically, everything will still have to be anchored on precision when it comes to working out certain muscles needed for one to maximize benefits from the exercise.

Indeed, Pilates is a great way to get your body in shape. If you’ve only heard about it but haven’t actually given it a try, it’s time you did with a qualified instructor. While instructional DVD’s may be of some help, nothing still beats a live human that you can talk to and ask questions.

If you’re new in the program, you probably won’t get the exercises right and since the only way to get most out of them is by doing them correctly, an instructor who can point out your errors is always appreciated.

Pilates Equipment – History

There’s no doubt what Pilates can do for those who practice it. Certainly, Joseph Pilates’ exercise techniques have come a long way from World War I when he first applied them on injured soldiers in an internment camp. But aside from the regular Pilates yoga mats we use nowadays, do you know there is a variety of equipment out there we can explore? In fact, these machines are partially accountable for the exercise’ popularity because they play a major part in producing results.

The very first model introduced was the Pilates Reformer which was patterned after the WWI soldiers’ hospital beds set up with rings by Mr. Pilates himself. He believed the resistance helped their bodies recover from physical shock. Because he found his invention very effective, he further developed it by creating more spring-based machines and incorporating bars and straps that allowed for more flexibility.

In 1920, he arrived in New York and brought his moves to dancers whom he helped turn out to be more flexible and generally healthier to further master their bodies. That proved to be a good decision as far as spreading word about the exercise was concerned because now, even the dancers didn’t only practice it. They also turned out to be active in letting other people know about the benefits of the Pilates routine.

After the Pilates Reformer, the Pilates Cadillac became the next in thing consisting of a padded platform with a frame on top of it. Mr. Pilates believed in the power of springs and this led him to develop the design with springs connecting bars or straps to the frame above the platform. Yet one more equipment developed was the Pilates Barrel which was made of a wood frame with cushioned foam designed first and foremost to improve bearing and flexibility.

The majority of people confuse Pilates with yoga and truth is, the two are very closely related. The former, on the other hand, is more focused on physical wellness while yoga touches deeper down into the spiritual level.

Most people would like to get the best of both by integrating one into the other. Of course, only professionals can do this and those who want to benefit from both will have to trust only a trained instructor.

Today, when you talk of Pilates equipment, you usually think of Pilates and yoga mats which are, of course, more suited to contemporary lifestyle. A person’s success with this type of exercise routine is not completely dependent on the equipment used but whether it’s a barrel or an Extra thick Pilates yoga mat , results will certainly be affected.

What You Should Be Looking For In Pilates And Yoga Mats

It is easier said than done if someone is looking for Pilates Yoga mats. It is for the reason that there are so many distinct types that are existing out there. Human as we are, we only want the best there is and that makes shopping more trickier than ever. You will go to one shop to another just to make sure that you are actually getting the best and the one that is the most useful. Of course, cost is another dimension to the whole hullabaloo. Maybe there will be other considerations such as how thick the mat should be or what material it must be made of. Fortunately, there’s will be but a few things to keep in mind while hunting down that mat for you.

If you are devoted with your Pilates you have to make sure that you got the right mat because the mat will definitely affect how you will turn up in the program. This only means that you should not be settling for anything less, you have to make sure that you only get the best to make sure that your Pilates will turn out to be the one that you are looking for. Chances are, cheap mats will give in after a day or two of use. Besides, you’re not going to like how it’s going to look by that time. It will probably even reek of certain chemicals and it wouldn’t be pretty inhaling them during those deep-breathing routines.

To have full control of your body you have to make sure that you only get a rubber mat. This means that you have to have something that you won’t slip while you are doing the Pilates moves. Pilates is about concentration and most of its benefits actually come from there.

If you’re going to have to be interrupted by those slips, you’re just going to defeat the whole purpose of doing the exercise. No matter how you try, it just won’t work for you anymore because you won’t be able to do it right. Rubber mats allow your skin to have a steady grip so you get to perform the routines smoothly and confidently.

How thick your rubber mat is might just matter but only up to that level of ease that you’re comfortable with while doing the exercise. There are people who can’t tolerate a hard surface so they’re the ones who’ll probably need thick mats. However, it doesn’t really bother you, then a thin one might just be good enough.

Your success with Pilates definitely does not depend on the mat you use but as sure as the sun sets, it will affect how much you’ll end up gaining from the program. All things said, the comfort that you mat gives you should be your main consideration when shopping for it.

Pilates and Yoga mats are not exactly hard to find but you’ll always want to look for the one that will actually work for you, whether you’re considering Extra Thick Yoga Pilates Mats or the thinner ones, whichever are more comfortable.

Pilates And Yoga – The Line Between

Time and again, there will be confusion about Yoga and Pilates and whether or not they’re one and the same. Most definitely, they’re not. However, there are key points that make them nearly synonymous. Perhaps, the most obvious is the fact that they’re both very popular as a means of achieving physical and spiritual balance. Both are also widely accepted across cultures from Oriental to Western and their bedrocks have a universality that attract people from all walks of life and ages. However, there will be stark differences between these two disciplines in between their similarities.

Yoga is, of course, the oldest and best proven way of optimizing physical and spiritual health for every individual taking heed to its principles. People who don’t know much about it often have the misconception that it’s merely a form of physical exercise to keep the body fit.

However, yoga goes way beyond that. It is a complete package that brings physical and spiritual perfection through specific routines and meditation that promote practices and conditions contributory to man’s well-being. This package can include anything from improving muscle strength and tone to personal hygiene. This is how wide yoga is and its effects are most definitely time-tested.

While there are many exercise routines being promoted all over the media from aerobics to weight training, they’re all repetitive in nature. Yoga isn’t and this is what sets it apart from the rest. This oriental discipline is simply concerned about focusing on the body by stretching or flexing it to improve blood circulation and, thus, provide ample nourishment to the internal organs. Combined with Prana or life force energy, which is also supplied to the body by doing these routines, the person is expected to enjoy an overall improvement in health that may manifest in a myriad of ways from soothed nerves to improved digestive functions. Aside from stretching and flexing, yoga also espouses the value of proper breathing and relaxation as key to achieving both physical spiritual well-being.

Pilates exercises are basically patterned after yoga where full body control is essential. However, unlike yoga, Pilates needs both a a mat and specialized machines that aim to ultimately improve overall body strength and health. While yoga is all about maintaining that physical and inner peace, Pilates focuses more on perfecting body states and motions so that with proper practice, you achieve better posture, improved muscle strength and tone and generally more graceful body movement.

Because Pilates is a form of yoga, two terms are closely related although not entirely similar. Even the difference between yoga and pilates mats is quite obvious which means a different approach is used for each of the two. Either way, one need not necessarily choose one over the other as it is very possible and, perhaps, healthier to do both.
